Christmas in October is an exclusive affair that provides the community with a unique opportunity to support children with special needs and less fortunate children within the African Diaspora. The fifth annual Christmas in October event will be held on Sunday, October 25th at Atwood in New York, NY from 5 PM to 10 PM.
With the purchase of one ticket, attendees will enjoy refreshments, networking, music from Afro-Electronic Dance Music creator DJ Universe and live performances from local and international artists. The soiree also features special raffles of designer pieces and African artwork, as well as complimentary gift bags.
This year's beneficiary is the MyGOAL Haven International Project. Haven International Center for Special Education (Haven) will be a center excellence for training of families, teachers, paraprofessional and practitioners.Training will include early identification, therapeutic interventions, supportive strategies to integrate children within schools and communities and management of healthconcerns in children and adults with autism. The center will also provide a supportive and structured learning environment with a focus on communication, socialinteraction skills, recreation activities and vocational training for individuals with autism. The Center will utilize state of the art technologies to enhance training and support for those providing care to families.
Hopeful Orphans Pursuing Excellence
Raising H.O.P.E~Raising Hopeful Orphans Pursuing Excellence serves as a non-profit charity organization developed to address the needs of orphans, less fortunate children, and children with special needs in the continent of Africa and within the African Diaspora.
Raising H.O.P.E. aims to ensure that the basic survival, health and educational needs of African children are met and that all beneficiaries of Raising H.O.P.E. are closer to integrating into their communities, becoming productive members of society, and living life to its maximum potential.
Our Current Objectives:
- • Provide 1-2 orphanages or children's homes with financial assistance for the maintenance of shelter, provision of food, water, and healthcare to 30+ children within each establishment.
• Raise awareness and educate 300+ healthcare professionals and caregivers in Sub-Saharan Africa on the signs of Autism/related learning disabilities and possible approaches to symptom management.
